As an undergraduate student at UNC Charlotte, my interest in student affairs and higher education ignited from my involvement in multiple leadership opportunities and interactions with student affairs professionals. Being a first generation college student, navigating a collegiate environment was challenging, and led to continuous feelings of self-doubt and imposter syndrome. Through the guidance of my student affairs mentors, I was able to build the confidence I needed to navigate an unfamiliar space, and develop myself holistically.
While enrolled at UNC Charlotte, I had the privilege of being engaged with our campus community as a: resident assistant in Housing and Residence Life; student coordinator in the Latino Student Services Office; senior class president in the Student Government Association; a fellow of the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program; and held diverse leadership positions within the Diversified Greek Council and Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity Inc. Ultimately, it was my involvement in these unique experiences that led to me to enter the field of student affairs, and make a commitment to support students and student affairs professionals in various capacities. I thank my experience at UNC Charlotte for not only making me the professional I am today, but helping me in developing my career aspirations in higher education.
