Title: Coordinator, Student Leadership Programs, since 2018
I believe that my student affairs journey began in the summer of 2011, during the University Transition Opportunity Program (UTOP) program. We had the distinct privilege of meeting and interacting with multiple campus department and student groups. During the closing ceremony, Dr. Herman Thomas asked us, "How will you leave your mark?” That stuck with me throughout my four years at UNC Charlotte. I knew I wanted to make a difference. During my time at UNC Charlotte, I was involved in the following: Student Alumni Ambassadors, Tour Guides, Cone Center Candy Shoppe Manager (long live the Candy Shoppe!!!), LeaderShape, Women's Leadership Development Cohort. I joined Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Iota Rho Chapter during my junior year as well. To round out my involvement, I won Homecoming Queen in 2014!
Although I had multiple leadership roles on campus, my most influential role that catapulted me into Student Affairs was my involvement with the Campus Activities Board (CAB). I held just about every position, including President, in which we won Board of Excellence at the National Association of Campus Activities in 2014. This leadership experience engaged me in personal and professional development and provided me with transferable skills for other campus positions and roles, and off-campus jobs an internships. Who would have thought that Student Activities would give me so much? In addition, my CAB advisor, and now Mentor, Thanh Le, truly challenged (and still does) me to be and do my best inside and outside of CAB. I definitely attribute his leadership to the reason that I am in this field. I wanted to be that person for others! I love this field! #GoNINERS
